What is a Ring Dryer?

A ring dryer, also known as a pneumatic dryer, is industrial equipment that uses heat to remove moisture from wet materials. It features a “manifold classifier,” which sets it apart from traditional flash dryers. This dryer is widely used in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. 

Ring dryers are also utilized for drying distillers’ dried grains with solubles (ring dryer DDGS). They are ideal for heat-sensitive materials that cannot endure prolonged high temperatures. What is the Working Principle of a Ring Dryer?

Ring dryers, an advancement of flash dryers, operate as follows:

• Heating: Air is heated to the required temperature before introducing the wet material into the drying duct.
• Feed Conditioning: Wet material is mixed with previously dried material to reduce moisture before entering the dryer.
• Drying: Water evaporates from the wet particles as they move through the dryer, lowering the air temperature and increasing its humidity.
• Product Collection: Dried particles are separated from the air using a bag filter or cyclones, and the air is released into the atmosphere.
